Nos últimos tempos alguns dos mais populares sites de torrents têm vindo a apresentar uma nova funcionalidade que permite a visualização de conteúdos através de streaming. Para isso o utilizador apenas tem de instalar o plugin Torrents Time e nem precisa de sair do browser!
Mas o Torrents Time já está na mira de organismos anti-pirataria.
Depois dos downloads directos e via torrent, os principais sites de conteúdos ilegais disponibilizam agora novas funcionalidades como, por exemplo, o streaming de filmes. Um dos primeiros foi o Popcorn Time e, recentemente, foi a vez do The Pirate Bay disponibilizar uma opção para streaming de vídeos. Além destes destaca-se o Kickass que também passou a disponibilizar filmes e séries neste modelo.
Mas o grupo holandês anti-pirataria BREIN (em inglês Protection Rights Entertainment Industry Netherlands) alega que o plugin para o navegador ajuda fortemente a distribuição de conteúdos.
Through your website Torrents Time (https://torrents-time.com/) you are distributing the illegal application ‘Torrents Time’ that structurally and systematically facilitates, enables and participates in the making available of infringing content without the authorization of the respective copyright and neighbouring rights holders. ‘Torrents Time’ is enabling the illegal distribution of popular titles of films and of TV-Series that are published by the rights holders represented by BREIN and which have not been licensed for distribution through your system.
O grupo anti-pirataria afirma também que o plugin “provoca grandes danos aos detentores de direitos” e insiste que os criadores do plugin Torrents Time são responsáveis pela pirataria que existe actualmente.
Entretanto os responsáveis pelo plugin já responderam ao grupo referindo que o Torrents Time não é uma “ferramenta” para a pirataria até porque o objectivo da sua criação é a transmissão de conteúdo legal.

Apesar das acusações, os responsáveis pelo Torrents Time permanecem confiantes na legalidade da aplicação e acreditam firmemente que o plugin está a mudar a Web para melhor.
